Salt and Trail is a blog about hiking, running and sailing in the Pacific Northwest. It’s a mix between a bucket list and hobby blog. I’m using this site to post notes about prep, routes, destinations and events. The overall goal is to share, learn and connect. Enjoy!
PNW Running Bucket List
My running bucket list is my shortest, so it’s listed here first. Running is an activity that has never come natural for me. A necessary evil that I typically avoided. In 2018 I ran a few races, enjoyed it, and got the bug. So for 2019 I decided to train and try to do little better this year than last year.
Here are the races on my bucket list:
- 2019 Everett 10K
- 2019 Bridge of the Gods 10K
- 2019 Ragnar Rainier Trail Relay
PNW Sailing Bucket List
In 2018 we were very lucky to find a beautifully restored 37 foot sailboat offered at a very reasonable price. We purchased Destiny II and sail her as often as we can.
The Pacific Northwest is a sailing wonderland. We like to sail in the Puget Sound, San Juan Islands, Boundary Islands and the Strait of Georgia.
We are just getting going and have not even began to scratch the surface of what we can explore here. Our bucket list is below:
- 2019 – Cole Harbor (Vancouver)
- 2019 – Victoria
- 2019 – Roche Harbor
- 2019 – Friday Harbor
PNW Hiking Bucket List
In addition to being a sailing and cruising paradise, the Seattle area has world class hiking opportunities. Olympic National Park, Rainier National Park, Cascade National Park, Alpine Lakes Wilderness, Mt. Baker… Many of these locations are connected by the Pacific Crest Trail as it winds it’s way from Oregon to Canada. The opportunities and options are plentiful.
- Tolmie Peak Lookout – Rainier
- Granite Mountain – Snoqualmie
